EU data residency available via AWS Bedrock (eu-* regions), GCP Vertex AI (europe-* regions), and Microsoft Azure. Regional inference supported via cloud partners. The direct API (api.anthropic.com) does not support region-pinning — EU residency requires routing through a cloud provider.
Commercial API customers' data is not used for model training. This is a hard contractual guarantee in the Commercial Terms, not just a default. Consumer Claude.ai users may have data used for training unless opted out via Privacy Settings.
The Commercial Terms explicitly state Anthropic may not train models on Customer Content. Safety-flagged content may be retained for trust and safety purposes regardless of other settings.
Certifications & EU AI Act
No dedicated EU AI Act compliance page. Published Responsible Scaling Policy and Model Cards align with GPAI transparency obligations. As a US-based GPAI model provider serving the EU, EU AI Act obligations apply. No public conformity assessment or EU AI Office registration found as of verification date.
Verification
EU data controller is Anthropic Ireland, Limited (Dublin). Lead supervisory authority is the Irish DPC. The no-training guarantee for API customers is a hard contract clause, stronger than a default opt-out. Security breach notification in DPA is 48 hours — stricter than GDPR's 72-hour requirement. EU data residency requires routing through AWS Bedrock, GCP Vertex, or Azure, not the direct API.
