10 European regions: Belgium (europe-west1), Netherlands (europe-west4), Frankfurt/Germany (europe-west3), London/UK (europe-west2), Finland (europe-north1), Warsaw/Poland (europe-central2), Milan/Italy (europe-west8), Madrid/Spain (europe-southwest1), Paris/France (europe-west9), Zürich/Switzerland (europe-west6). Google stores and processes data only in the specified region. IMPORTANT: the global endpoint does NOT guarantee data residency — use specific regional endpoints for GDPR compliance.
Customer data processed only per customer instructions. Data deletion instruction results in deletion from all Google systems within maximum 180 days. Zero Data Retention (ZDR) available for specific Vertex AI Generative AI requests where no input/output is logged.
Google Cloud CDPA explicitly states data is processed only per customer instructions and not used to train or improve Google's AI models. ZDR is available for qualifying API calls — neither input nor output is logged or stored.
Certifications & EU AI Act
Google Cloud maintains ISO 27701 and has a general AI responsibility framework (Secure AI Framework / SAIF). No specific published EU AI Act provider-role compliance declaration for Vertex AI found as of verification date.

Most EU regional coverage of the three cloud platforms (10 European regions). Zero Data Retention (ZDR) is unique among the three — qualifying API calls store nothing, not even logs. Sub-processors for Gen AI include data labelling firms (Cognizant, GlobalLogic, Teleperformance, Uber) that may process in India, but only when the customer explicitly opts into data labelling services. CDPA accepted via online click-through in Google Cloud console. SCCs automatically incorporated. ISO 27701 held as PII processor.
